In the absence of a formal guest speaker, Steve Muir introduced our own Peter Svensson to present his life and times. Starting his working life in 1970 in a NZ stock company he eventually found his way to WA as a mulsing contractor (!!) and met and married wife no1. After returning to NZ in ’86 and working in Cromwell in Central Otago, he eventually found himself back in WA, alone and a bit lost, to be fortunately rescued by Sue who he married in 1996. (A tip Peter, NEVER introduce your partner as “my current wife”-ed!) Peter and Sue eventually found their way back to Gero and bought the “”Dick Smith Electronics” business. At this point Steve went on to bamboozle us all with technology, from CRTs to LCDs, LEDs, vinyl discs to CDs, memory sticks, I-pods, laptops, printers, bytes to terabytes with lots of RAM, and all things whiz-bang! (How he never got nailed for blatant advertising was really baa-d on the fine master’s part. –ed.) The challenge for Peter and his staff is to understand and meet customer needs in an era which loves its technology! (He has no worries the way my printer uses ink! –ed) Life and Times of Peter Svensson
