Blue Sky Readers and Writers Festival

GUEST SPEAKER:

Once we were all fed, Laurie Dines rose from his comfy chair and introduced to us Trudi Cornish from The Geraldton Regional Library and Organiser of the Big Sky Readers and Writers festival.

The Festival is from May 25th – 27th with the theme “Windswept Words”. (Very appropriate)

To quote Trudi: “Our home by the sea is a place of mixed environments. Geraldton lingers against a backdrop of azure waters, clear skies and stunning, ancient hinterland. But always there is the wind, sweeping across the landscape, renewing and refreshing life in its path.”

-Windswept Words offers you a rich mix of vibrant and engaging performances, immersive storytelling and writing workshops, music and comedy.-

There is a fantastic, eclectic array of writers and artists offering enlightening discussions and workshops over the weekend. Activities are mainly at the Geraldton Universities Centre but also other venues around town.

The festival is headlined by renowned cartoonist and writer, Michael Leunig.

Thursday and Friday the writers visit local schools for workshops with the official opening at the Library on Friday evening.

Terry Stewart offered a vote of thanks.
