Joanne is a Midwest local from Canna in the the Shire of Morawa. Joanne did some extensive travelling overseas during the early 2000’s following which she moved to Perth and joined Computer Share where she worked for 12 years. Her Partner Chris also from Canna, both made a choice to have a sea change and moved to Geraldton. Two years ago, Joanne was appointed CEO of the Midwest Chamber of Commerce and Industry. At the time of her appointment a West Australian newspaper article stated that the Midwest CCI Was confident that Joanne would take the Chamber to the next level and drive the needs of members. The Chamber is a Not for Profit organization and describes itself as “the voice of business "serving the needs of members, and providing leadership influencing effective change for a healthy business environment. Joanne advised Rotarians that The Chamber has 375 members, and this is increasing. She described the Chamber as a united group, and it is a legitimate lobby group for business. Joanne said that “we keep members up to date with newsletters and promotions.” During her period at the Chamber Joanne has focused on building strong relationships with staff and members. Some of her quotes included; “ always own your mistakes”. “Business sucess today relies on digital presence”,. and “Local business leaders can provide an important role in mentoring other businesses”.
