Pupils pitch in for less fortunate

Bluff Point Primary School pupils are helping make Christmas a more cheerful time for Geraldton’s under-privileged with their generous donation of food to Foodbank.

As part of Geraldton-Greenough Rotary Club’s “Cans for Christmas” appeal, the Room 14 Years 4/5 children stuffed bags full of food as part of nearly 400kg of items from the appeal, providing up to 800 meals.

Rotary Club President Philip Martin said: ”In the spirit of Christmas giving, our wish has been to make sure that Geraldton’s less-fortunate residents still get to enjoy the festive season with some added food in their cupboards.

“It’s a case of sharing a little kindness at such an important time of year.”

Some people may have missed the opportunity to donate food items but the Foodbank store at 31 Webberton Road will remain open for donations Monday to Friday — 7.30am until 2pm — right up until Christmas.

Should anyone wishing to make food donations and be unable to deliver direct to Foodbank, two Rotarians will be on stand-by to collect the items and deliver them to Foodbank on your behalf.
