President Laurie announced that Noora will be off to NZ for December and suggested Rotarians started inviting her out to show her some Geraldton Culture ASAP! (Speaking of excellent culture, any takers for the opera “Madam Butterfly” coming in Sept to QPT?)
Peter Svensson, Youth and Vocational, announced that Paul Jimenez has been accepted as our nominee to the Youth Science Forum. (It took you long enough to spit this out, eh Pete!-ed) See the District Announcement on the front page of last weeks edition!
PDG Hugh Lavery:
More on the “Waist Disposal Challenge”.
This is a health intervention at the community level for Rotary Clubs. The aim is to reduce Body Mass Index in Rotarian men and to improve dietary intake, physical activity, general well being and quality of life.

Waist Disposal Challenge Trophy

Noora Andell

The program consists of three levels of intervention, educational presentations, BMI competition  between clubs and telephone lifestyle coaching.
There is an expectation our club will be taking part, no doubt because we have a lot to lose! A nomination sheet has gone round to look for Champions to promote this. Training will be arranged in Geraldton by Prof Samar Aoun if there is enough interest.
