PP Ian Johnson presnts R & R C!

Raffle and Rotary Corner

Presented by PP Ian Johnstone, drawn by PP Kel “Ovarian Cancer” Wilson, and won by Ian!!

Ian spoke of some unusual Rotary Projects. The recycling of used spectacles for the third world is a rotary project of great value, and Rotarians were asked to consider this by placing used specs with participating optometrists. Another worth while project mentioned was the “Ring for Limbs” project where can ring pulls are recycled for artificial limbs. For more information, see page 95 of the 2009-10 District Directory. Yes, as Pres Laurie intimated, the Directory is free and a mine of useful Rotary information!

Visiting Rotarian Trevor Wainstein is the District Chair of INTERACT, an expansion of Rotary at High School level. Interact clubs are social and service clubs for young people aged 14-18 and are a dynamic link that enables Rotary Clubs to engage with youth. They have a sponsoring Rotary Club but are self governing and supporting. There are currently two clubs is District 9450 and there is a great opportunity to increase this number in our district.
