Jack, Paula Duggan and Nathan | Guest Speaker |
Our Guest Speaker today was Paula Duggan, who is Learning Support Coordinator at Nagle Catholic College. A significant number of children have learning difficulties; these may be physical, intellectual, sensory, or processing disorders, particularly with respect to reading and writing. This is where “Reading Pens” are useful, two having been funded by our Rotary Club for Nagle College. These pens when placed over a written word sound it our audibly. Jack and Nathan are two students who are benefiting from the new pens. Young Jack demonstrated the pen and told how it helped him to read questions properly and improved his marks by 20%. Nathan has just started and expects it to help him with his words.

Nathan Paula is optimistic these pens will play a role in helping children with disabilities to reach their full potential. Paula was thanked by Steve Dunn and presented with the usual wine glass!
