Raffle and Rotary Corner

Presented by Ted Duke and won by Shane Truran
Ted attempted to tell the story of Madam Curie, the discoverer of Xrays that has since had a revolutionary impact in the world of medicine. She was also a philanthropist who tried to help as many people as she could, however could not help all. She did what she could and had the satisfaction knowing that she had been able to make a difference to some people’s lives.
It reminds us of the story of the little boy throwing back crabs onto the water when a vast number had been washed up on the beach. When asked why he was bothering considering such vast numbers had been washed up, he replied as he threw one back into the water, “Well, I made a difference for that one!”
From this Rotarians can take satisfaction that we should not be discouraged or overwhelmed in being able to do so little to help in the big scheme of things, we cannot help everyone but those that we do we make all the difference to!
