Jason in the outback | Guest Speaker |
Jason presented an entertaining report of his two week tour of north Western Australia together with a party of Rotary Exchange Students. This was the longest road trip of his stay in Australia. From Perth the party travelled north via New Norcia, Cue, Newman, Tropic of Capricorn, Karijini, Tom Price, Exmouth, and then south via Coral Bay, Carnarvon, Monkey Mia, Kalbarri, and finally back to Perth. The many diverse visits, activities and experiences included tours of historic towns, arable and livestock farms, panning for gold, bush camps, sheep shearing, spotlighting, sea and gorge swimming, Aboriginal cave art sites, a dolphin encounter, making damper and billy tea, “bull” riding, eating bush tucker, swarms of flies and flyng ants, and even occasionally, flush toilets and showers. Bush tucker |
Rough rider The firm friendships made between the exchange students from many continents and countries illustrates the success of this program in fostering international understanding. Inevitably, in spite of Jason’s best efforts, the club members managed somehow, to draw references to Eagles and Collingwood footy from his presentation. P.P.Laurie Dines thanked Jason for his enlightening talk and complimented him on the development of his use of English during his exchange.
