ADG Grace presents..... | Guest Speaker |
Our Guest speaker, ADG Grace Ley was introduced by Steve Dunn. Grace is from Edinburgh, came to Aussie in 1980 and Geraldton in 1984. She is presently Nurse Manager for the Geraldton Health Service. Grace led a Group Study Exchange team to Texas District 5830 in April this year. The team consisted of five women ranging in ages from 26 to 40 plus Grace, the leader. As team leader, Grace was flat out, particularly with the vocational visits and club presentations. She found the “dry” areas in the North of Texas a challenge, but enjoyed the vibrant evangelical Negro church she visited. There was boot scooting, a cattle drive and places to visit including an Army Depot. It seems they rather enjoyed the food and many beverages, especially the Jefferson Crawfish Boil (bit like a yabbie), but not the alligators they met! There was also the river boat casino that never moved, but still needed a captain!

A Crawfish! At Mt Vernon she took a trip in an RV, saw a museum dedicated to women and saw heaps of oil wells some on top of each other! Other projects they visited included an artificial limb plant and industrial plants for heavy machinery surrounded by carefully rehabilitated land. After thanking Foundation for the opportunity to go on this adventure, Grace was thanked by Shain Forth, and just managed to get the glass off of him! |
