VOCATONAL VISIT TO GERALDTON FIRE STATION

Our usual breakfast meeting was shifted to the evening last week for a vocational visit to the new Geraldton Fire Station. We were warmly welcomed by Station Officers Craig Maynard and Jason Dunn, and led through an informative evening which included a tour of the facility, the equipment used and how a modern fire and rescue team live and work together.

There is more to being a “fireman” in today’s world than pointing hoses at fires! Fire and Rescue  is a highly skilled, but sometimes dangerous profession that requires extensive training, and resilience, but well supported as well. Officers are encouraged in their fitness and mental health and wellbeing. It was clear there is immense job satisfaction and camaraderie as a Fire and Rescue officer!
