Old Wine is Not Necessarily Good. |
Our Charter Club, The Rotary Club of Batavia Coast is running another of their famous Dead Red nights on the 15th May. It is 6.30pm for 7.00pm start. Tickets are available from Skeetas or Queens IGA and are $35.00 each, which covers wine tasting and cheeseboards. I was at the last function which was held aboard the Eco Abroholos. It was a very entertaining evening and there was a reasonable group representing our club that evening. We looked back at the club that evening and know Johnno was sitting there envious of us as we sipped on our drinks. The night is generally a sell out so, if you anticipate attending you will need to make your booking fairly soon. This function will be at the Yacht Club so you will be able to sit out on the balcony and watch the sun set as you partake of your drink of choice. |
By the way, the prize goes to the worst example of wine and it has to be at least 10 years old. There is generally a story attached to the wine and the contestants try to out do each other with the worst history often taking out the award. The resident wine taster is Colin Cox and there are some examples that have scarred him for life. He says he only does it because it is for a good cause. |
